Eye Care & Ophthalmology Services
1966 – 1988
Free medical treatment was provided daily to 60–70 patients through the Shri Nakoda Bhairav Free Dispensary.
Since 1968
A total of 736,169 patients have been examined and treated.
The eyesight of 112,928 patients has been restored through surgeries conducted during 367 Free Surgical Eye Camps held in rural villages across India and at Shree Bhairav Eye Hospital, Bisalpur.
Since 2000
Dedicated eye surgeons from Second Sight, London (UK), regularly visit to provide honorary surgical services.
Since 2001
Regular school eye screening programs are conducted for children with visual problems:
• Paramedical staff visit nearby village schools four times a month
• Children requiring refraction or surgery are brought to the hospital
• Surgeries are provided free of cost
• Spectacles are provided at subsidized rates
Other Medical & Social Services (Non-Eye)
1981 – 1993 (Tuberculosis Camps)
Organized 8 Tuberculosis (T.B.) Camps, each lasting 45 days, with support from the District Tuberculosis Eradication Center, Pali:
• Around 1,300 lives were saved
• Regular monthly follow-ups were conducted
• Medicines were provided free of cost for the full 10-month treatment duration
Up to 1996
Free medicines were provided monthly to T.B. patients for up to 12 months, benefiting more than 250 patients each month.
1983 – 1998 (Veterinary Camps)
Organized 37 Veterinary Camps with the State Department of Animal Husbandry (Pali & Jalore), treating thousands of animals.
1987 (Dental Services)
A dental clinic was operated with the help of dedicated dentists from the United Kingdom, benefiting thousands of people in nearby rural villages.
1991 – 1995 (ENT Camps)
More than 4,500 patients were treated during 27 surgical ENT camps conducted in rural villages.
1986 – 1989 (Nutrition Support)
Approximately 360 tons of nutritious food were distributed to tribal communities in Pali District.
1986 (Winter Relief)
Woolen and cotton clothes, along with blankets, were distributed to needy people in tribal areas during winter.
1986 – 1995 (Milk & Buttermilk Centers)
• 15 milk distribution centers
• 20 buttermilk distribution centers
Established in rural and tribal areas of Pali District, benefiting hundreds of families.
1984 – 2026 (Support for Disabled)
Organized 17 camps for persons with disabilities in collaboration with Mahavir Viklang Sahayata Samiti (Jodhpur & Kota Units).
Provided free:
• Jaipur Foot artificial limbs
• Calipers
• Crutches
• Tricycles
1990 – 2026
Distributed hundreds of tricycles to physically disabled individuals in Pali and Jalore districts.
1983 – 1988 (Famine Relief)
During severe famine:
• Distributed thousands of tons of corn, jowar, and red beans to tribal communities.
1988 – 2000 (Cattle & Fodder Support)
• Around 500 cows were cared for with medical aid and fodder
• Fodder was distributed to villagers at 50% subsidized cost
1983 – 1984 (Dental Outreach)
During winter (October to March), dentists and volunteers from the United Kingdom visited to provide honorary dental services.
1999 (International Recognition)
A team from BBC England (Grenada Unit) produced a documentary film on the hospital and its activities from 8th to 14th December 1999.
2001 – 2004 (Drought Relief)
Financial assistance was provided in rural and tribal areas for:
• Digging and deepening wells
• Installing hand pumps
• Installing tube wells
